Exercises

Movie review

Bridget Jones
It is a romantic comedy film, directed by Sharon Manguire and written by Helen Fielding. Is a very nice and funny story that takes places in Londres. The film tells the story Bridget Jones  a woman frustrated because she's 30 years old and still is single.
She’s spent time sitting on sofa watching tv every day at night. Then,  the family of the Bridgest Jones wants that she finds a boyfriend.
One day, she begins to go out with a suitor called Darcy. But, they had a lot of problems, after  that, the plot has an unexpected twist  because she has an affair with her boss. But, later  Bridget Jones has a lot changes in her life.
It’s  a beautiful love story and very funny.  I would recommend the movie  because  is very romantic and interesting.

Identifying topic sentences

1.   John Bookmeyer is a versatile, well-rounded boy. In
addition to singing in his church choir, he is a drummer in a
small combo. He maintains a high average in his subjects at
school and still manages to play football and run on the track
team. Although he is very popular with other young people, he
doesn't let his social life interfere with his weekend job at the
drugstore.

The topic in this paragraph is, John Bookmeyer is a versatile, well-rounded boy.

2.   The first thing I noticed about the school was the litter
in the schoolyard. Trash and paper were scattered everywhere. The
building, which could have been very attractive despite its age,
was dingy and dirty beyond belief. A window -pane was broken out
of the main door, and the door itself led into a dark, for
bidding hall. As I walked down the hall, I noticed the messy
bulletin board and, in several places, writing on the wall. No
one greeted me when I entered the outer office, although a
receptionist was sitting there noisily chewing a huge wad of gum
and putting on fingernail polish. All in all. I couldn't help
feeling that the school was poorly cared for.

I think that  topic in this paragraph is, the school was poorly cared for.

3.Through the fog the arc lights high above the stadium
looked like small moons from the field below. The lights were
reflected all over the marshy field in pools of water, an
accumulation of twenty four hours of steady drizzle. Despite
lengthy warm-up drills, the players now felt the cold and
dampness beginning to penetrate. They were either huddled
together or dancing up and down to keep warm-- that is, all
except our first-string quarterback and our all-state offensive
end, both of whom were out of the game with injuries. They sat
glumly on the bench wrapped in soggy woolen blankets, Conditions
could hardly have been worse for this crucial game.

Well, I'm not sure about the topic because the paragraph is very confused. But I think the topic
is Conditions could hardly have been worse for this crucial game.
The paragraph tells about bad condition of the weather and the sequence the things that the players did.
For example, they danced. Later they sat down, and they wrapped with the wool blanket.

Reflection

I enjoyed to practice the exercises of reading comprehension because I think that the exercises are easy to understand.  My score was 8/10, I really like the page because it have differents kind of exercises.

Reflection

Well, I think that exercises are very good because we can know  and  practice more about punctuation. Also, the exercises are very easy to understand, and we can see examples in the same page.
The disadvantage is that we have to solved the exercise en other  paper or notebook because in the page cannot. But in general is a nice way to learn english.

The ducks on the lake

The ducks on the lake

Once upon a time,  a duck called Timy lived in a wonderful lake. He spent time playing with his friends, Timy was very generous because he always woke up early, and he went to look for food for all his friends.

One day, Timy was walking around the lake. Suddently, he saw a beautiful female duck in the shore of lake. So, Timy went there, and she asked him: "What's your name?, Do you live near here?", so, he answered: "my name is Timy and I live in this lake, I've never seen you before. where do you live?",  and she answered: "my name is Maia, I'm looking for insects to eat. Do you know a good place?". So, Timy answered, "Yes,  I know a place near the plants. Come with me,   I'll show you".

They were together all day, and they talked about their lives. Then they fell in love. The next day Maia told Timy that she had to go with her flock. Timy felt very sad and he begged her to stay with him. So, Maia smiled and she decided to stay in the lake with Timy because she felt love with him.

They lived happily ever after and they ate many insects.
